What Are the Benefits of Pool Fencing?

Homeowners who install a swimming pool in their backyard should also consider installing a privacy fence around their pool. A pool fence ensures your family’s privacy, increases your property’s value, prevents unwanted intruders from gaining access to the pool and protects you from various liabilities.

Here are some benefits of installing pool fencing:

Create a Safe Environment

Installing a pool fence helps prevent small children and pets from wandering around the pool or falling in. The pool fence should be minimum of 4 feet in height, although it is recommended that it should be 5 feet. And, it should be of 2 inches from the bottom rail to the ground to prevent children or pets get under it.

Prevents Accidents

Insurance companies and state/local building ordinances may require that a privacy fence should be installed around the pool to prevent accidents or injuries to anyone who may walk on to your property. Pools that are not surrounded by a fence will increase the homeowners’ liability and may cause their policy to be canceled or their premiums to be substantially higher.

Increases the Value of Your Property

A well-maintained privacy fence around the pool can substantially increase the property value of your home which will be advantageous if you ever choose to sell your property. A prospective buyer can view the fence as a benefit for both privacy and security reasons.

Keeps Intruders Away

A secure privacy fence helps to keep unwanted intruders from gaining access to your pool and back patio or deck. Stray animals that wander through the neighborhood will not be able to get near the pool and fall in. It will also prohibit uninvited guests from using the pool when you are not at home.

Ensures Privacy

Lastly, the main reason for a pool fence is privacy. An enclosed area, not only keeps outsiders from gaining entry, but it also allows you to relax in a secure environment, away from the eyes of neighbors or passers-by.

Security and privacy are usually the two most common reasons behind installing a well-constructed privacy fence around the pool.
